Bring some wade fishing gear and wade the back side of the convention center.

We will be there too for our annual family shabang. For the kids we always do a Schlitterbahn day, rent sea doos, parasail. The dolphin watch is ''kind of'' fun for them, best to do it on the firwork nights so they can watch it from the boat after returing back bayside.. Have fun and be safe..

Eat at captain Roy's and dirty Al's. Drive up the beach if you have 4wd and fish in the surf. Wade fish as mentioned above. Watch the fireworks over the bay. Buy done shrimp and have a boil. But some jumbo shrimp and wrap them in bacon for the grill. Have fun, it's a great place!!!!

ALL excellent info Doc. If you go to Dirty Als AVOID USE OF PLASTIC!!!try and use cash! We also fish several days while we are there. Swing by Parrot eyes around 11-11.30 and check out what was caught..

Jump on a snapper boat, head out and fill the freezer.

Are you looking for stuff to do in Port Isabel itself or on the island?

well other than places to eat, there's not a whole lot to do in PI, if you're looking for somewhere to eat breakfast, you can try Fisherman's Wharf, great guy named Steve works that was in Fire dept (if you go there, tell him Tony from EMS says hi, might hook you up with some of his mom's delicious pastries she bakes there), there is also a place named Manuel's that has really good breakfast (cash only), If you're looking for some good seafood to eat in PI, look for Joe's Oyster Bar right down the street from Manuel's.

There's a restaurant called Pirate's Landing (tourist place) but if you go to that general area, they have a decent fishing pier, a pirate boat that takes you on a tour around the bay (pirates and cannons included), and there's all kinds of little stores that sell different things around it. Can't miss the area as the lighthouse is right next to it. The kids might enjoy going up the lighthouse and taking a look up there.

One thing i recommend doing on the South Padre is if you're gonna be doing some fishing, catch your fish, fillet them, and head over to a place called Blackbeard's. If the price is still the same, they charge you about $8.50/person and they'll cook the fish you take them. Either fried, blackened, parmesan crusted, I think they have like 6 different ways they can do it. Inlcudes sides with the price stated above. Other than that, on SPI there's fishing all over, kayaking, parasailing, jet skis, horseback riding, all kinds of other things to do. Have fun

Relax on the beach! buy some sand toys for the kids and they will entertain themselves for hours, sit. swim and enjoy. The surf noise is a great way to chill!

And not to worry you too much, but watch for rip currents right now. They have been having some problems with them recently on SPI. As long as you don't let you or your kids go out too far, you'll be fine.
