I miss Festus Haggen (Ken Curtis)

Back in the early 70's, when I was going to high school in Big Spring, he performed at the rodeo. Rode out on "Ruth" to the stage and sang. Like Shane said, he was a member of the Sons of the Pioneers.

He sang the national anthem at the San Antonio rodeo years and years ago when I was a kid. You would never think he could sing like that by looking at him

Kissed my mom after she won barrels at a HS Rodeo in Athens TX, when she was a senior in HS. Grandmother has a picture somewhere.

He used to have a close friend (can't remember his name), who was a boot sales rep for Tony Lama and lived in Edgewood across the street from a close froend of mine. Curtis would come to visit every year or so. Nice guy, they said.
