    Removing stains from boot heels/soles?

Has anybody ever gotten stains on the outside of the sole/heel of their boots and successfully cleaned them? I just bought these gator skin black jacks and have only worn them twice and one time was to a dance. I noticed these stains after and have no idea what they're from. There's no texture to the stains so it's not gum or sticky stuff. I'd really like to remove the stains but I'm pretty worried about messing up the heel and sole. I tried to take a picture to give an idea of what I'm talking about. It looks worse in person than in the picture. Anybody have any idea how to go about this?

You can try GOJO but your best bet is dye them light brown

On that light color I bet it will be next to impossible to get it back to original. I would try saddle soap and if that didn't work I would try what saddle tramp said. Not a bad idea

        Light sanding. Then seal it.

I'll give the soaps a try and if those don't work I might try the sanding. The sanding was my original idea but I wasn't sure how it would handle that.
