Building hog trap cost??

Thinking of building a hog trap what the cost for a 4x8 in materials??? Wanting to use hog panel...

I built one a few years ago, appx $100. It was 4x4x8 w a top on it. Spring type door.

I built one for about $150 4x3x8 1" angle with hog panel top and bottom.

Use 4x4 panels. It will cost more but you will keep the little ones in. Either anchor down or put a bottom on it. I have had the best luck with the gates that swing down.

Been told the reason I catch more in my big round pen traps than in the box type traps is because my box traps have bottoms and the hogs don't like them. Thinking about cutting the bottom out and just staking it down.

Like the top hinged gates best--the swing-down kind, not a guillotine kind. Have one with a side-hinged gate but I don't like it as well. The top-hinged gate stays in place when it drops, the side-hinged gate has to have a spring on it to keep it shut when it has been sprung.

I built mine with a top hinged swing down gate. It allows more hogs to come in when it has been tripped. Have caught several that way when only one got in.

Contact Round Bail, he has one of mine in his back yard he would probably give away or for very little $$. He's been storing it for me for about 4 years now.

$150-175. As stated above, use the 4x4 utility panels. I use a guillotine door. I set the wire high enough that it takes a larger hog to trip.
