Use hogs to dig up yard??

So I am thinking about tearing out all my Bermuda and plant st Augustine, my yard is pretty small.. You think I could put a hog back there so I don't have to dig up all the grass..?? Not that I'm doing it but just wondering if y'all think it would work..??

I think you would have a really dug up area on one half of the yard and the rest would be dead but by the time he killed all the grass a pretty good size hole would already be dug. At least in my experience with show pigs in pens.

      Is burning an option?

Just put a sheep in there. It will eat all the grass and pull it up by the roots.

Why not just rake and throw the st augustine squares on top of the existing Bermuda? I have done it twice this year and it worked out just fine. You may get a little Bermuda between squares but once the St Auggie gets established it will choke it out.

Spray it with round up and then put down new grass the next day.

If going that route, I would think a goat on a long leash would be better.

Funny you should mention it, but back in my lazier days I put two piglets in my future garden area. Thought it would fertilize well and reduce the need to till much. Kept them their six months. Guess what, pig scat, water and dirt equal concrete so hard you can't chisel it, much less till. That plot never grew a thing after that. So there's your answer. Believe it.

                          Murphy's law.

Those pigs would bust through your fence, and then destroy your garden or flower beds before running off into the wild.
