    Using live crawfish as bait

Anyone ever catch live crawfish and use as live bait?

    Best hook to use?

Catfish and bass love em! I just always used a work hook.

I've tried them but never catch much on them. I use circle hooks for everything. Just hook them through the tail. They'll stay alive for a while.

Did you use a weight (drop shot)

Fishing a a stock pond with lots of vegetation. I'm thinking I can either toss them along the bottom right at the edge of the grass, or up on the canopy & in holes. For bass

If you use a circle hook just remember to reel not set the hook! That was the hardest part for me with em! I eventually went back to a worm hook and started catching fish!! Them ocean perch fishermen were into those circle hooks though.

I use them a lot on trot lines for catfish. I always do good on them. Pole fishing with them for catfish I do good as well.

I fish my dads pond with them sometimes and catch bass and bigger perch.

I don't think thats ever been done before...but you might be on to something that could revolutionize fishing as we know it.

I've had luck with them on trot lines for catfish as well.

I've caught some giant bass on crawdads, and the best part of using them is...you've got dinner if you strike out on the fish.

You can catch anything on them. I've caught a 52lb bluecat on one before, some nice largemouths, and also I caught a 7 lb gasper on one not too long ago while fishing at Inks.

I use them a lot. I prefer to use a worm hook and attach them with a rubber band. They stay alive forever and I don't seem to miss as many hook sets that way. Also if you remove the large pincers that seems to help.

They work in saltwater too. I've caught bull drum and bull reds on them when I couldn't find crabs.

When the gaspers are biting, they wont give a catfish a chance to get to the crawfish!

I have used them cat fishing and I don't think I have ever caught a fish on a Crawfish. When I go back to run my lines all the perch are gone and the crawfish are still fishing! Bass love them but cats seem to be scared of them!
