    Bowhunting hogs can be frustrating...

Shot a sow tonight at 20 yds, broadside, maybe 10 degrees quartering to. Was using a Ramcat 100gr with 125gr blades. Got a full pass through.

Found blood EVERYWHERE for about a hundred yds. At one point, I found a spot where there was blood a foot up the base of the tree sprayed all over it, bubbles all in it with lung matter as well.

About 20 yds from that, she crawled through some stuff so thick that I had to go through it on my belly. Shortly after that, the blood trail went cold. Two spots, and absolutely nothing more.

What the heck? It's almost like she found a care flight from a UFO because I couldn't find anything else.

What do you guys think happened? Did she plug the hole when she crawled? Think I maybe only clipped one lung?

I think she ran out of blood to bleed and very close to those last two drops, you just need to keep looking.

She's not far... Pick up blood trail where you left off in the morning bet she's just a few yards from where you left off, you might have pushed her let her lay you'll find her in the morning

I gave it three hours of looking and got myself good and lost in the swamp at one point. I got a meeting that's over by 9am, but I figure she'l be spoiled by then.

She probably bled out and is laying really close to where you lost the trail. Don't get too discouraged, it happens.

I've made that same shot on hogs several times... I'm fact the hog in my avatar that weighs around 175-200 was killed with a double lung broadside.

I'm to the point now where I think I'm only gonna take quartering away shots.

I shot one last week that did the same thing. Followed her into a nasty thicket and she took a trail that I had to crawl through so I sat my bow down and kept going. About 20 yards in the blood just stopped. I crawled around for 45 minutes trying to pick up the trail. No luck. When I crawled back out I noticed the trail got wider. Turns out she had gone in and came right back out. She was laying in a mess of briars about 3 feet from where I laid my bow. I had walked by her 3 times before I found her.

sounds like the hunting was great...it was the tracking that got frustrating. You said "swamp" she might have lodge in the water/muck....sorry my friend.
