    Running barbed wire????

Heading out sunday to run some wire for a feeder pin.. This will be my first time doing so... I will be trying to use as many trees as I can to help run the wire but will have some tposts also.. Any tips on how to run the wire? I have a come along and a driver.. How do you get the wire to stay on the come along to stretch it out?

I always used a grip tool from Tractor Supply to stretch with a come along. Like this one.

In a pinch make a little longer make a loop winding on itself a few turns and pull gently, it should get it tight enough. if you plan to run a bunch then get the tool.

If you are running short runs around a feeder from T post to T post, just use fencing pliers to leverage against the post to tighten. There are notches to grab wire on the handle side of pliers. T posts arent strong enough to pull wire very tight from but would work for a feeder pen.

Sounds like a good size pen. I would go top strand first so you can get all the tension out of your trees, otherwise the lower strands will get loose as you pull the trees together up higher.

Pretty much covered by all the posts above, carry iodine or triple antibiotic for those cuts.

you better bring extra tposts for corner braces if you expect to use tposts for corner posts pulling wire....

I would just make sure I have plenty of trees.

Good luck. Be sure to put the t-posts on the inside of the pen. That way if a critter pushes on the wire it will be pushing against the post.

This is what we use when building fence. Your problem will be getting the wire tight, unless you can use trees as your corners. If you can, wrap wire around tree twice then twist itself tightly around wire. Roll wire out to next tree, wrap chain around it and attach come-a-long, to chain and to wire with tool above.Tighten, and wrap same as other end. loosen come-a-long. Drive t post every 10 feet or so and tie wire to t post. Repeat other two or three wires.
