Anybody Know A Bigwig At AT&T Wireless?

Back in November, my phone went out. As is their "policy" AT&T sent me a replacement phone which was refurbished. I've quickly realized, that AT&T doesn't check refurb phones over very well. Since November, I've been through 7 refurb phones. Every one of them has had an issue that EASILY could have been caught if the phones were tested (one wouldn't even start up, the screen just turned blue when you tried to turn it on). I'm pretty fed up, but have been with AT&T for years, so I don't really want to start over.

Does anyone know somebody big that could possibly fix this issue and get me a good phone finally?

I have been in your shoes not once but TWICE. In a 6 month span I went thru 11 Motorola Razr's. I think that their policy is the stupidest policy out there. I had recently got the new Blackberry Curve and paid a pretty penny for it. Well it started acting up and they told me if I wanted I could send it in and they would send me a refurb. I blew a gasket! When I pay 300$ for a phone and then 2 weeks later they want to send somthing that they pieced back together I said no way...luckily my phone problem was stupid but I understand how frustrating it can be.

I would call customer service and tell them that you would like to speak with a supervisor and tell them what is going on. Im not sure if they will do much but you never know.

When I got my Palm Treo (after my Razr) it was a 650 and the touchscreen went out on it after I had it for 3 weeks I took it back and demanded that they give me a new phone. I guess I said somthing that worked b/c they ended up giving me a brand new 680 as a replacemnt.

Will are you dealing with somebody on the phone or in the store? I ave always had better luck going to the store. the people on the other end of a phone line couldn't care less.

If they keep refusing in the store be willing to tell them to cancel your account on the spot and mean it. The cell phone business s competitive, they don't want to lose your business.

I should save this thread for my boss.

he keeps telling me I'm too hard on cell phones, and I keep telling him att is garbage

        I went through 6 razrs, and 4 of a v551 (I think) within about 2 years.

My best success in dealing with ATT Wireless over the years has been at the local store. I still hate them, but my wife/kids wanted ATT.

Bowvista... PM your cell phone number. AT&T's policy regarding the MANUFACTURER's warranty is that within 30 days of purchase the phone will be replaced in the store for a brand new phone. After 30 days AT&T will get you a manufacturer's refurbished phone (AT&T does not actually refurbish the phones). AT&T as the retailer has a process where you can have a phone sent to you and then you send back the phone to aT&T who will handle the return with the manufacturer vs you having to mail a phone to the manufacturer have them determine what is wrong and have them ship you back your fixed phone or a refurbished one at their descretion.

This was actually designed to help the customer not have to be without a phone. I will be glad to have one of my store's look into your issues and see what we can do to help.

What store have you been dealing with? Do you know if it is a Corporate owned store or an Indirect Dealer? A lot of your issues should be documented in your notes such as the number of returns, purchase date but if you have names of people you talked too along the way I can run that up the ladder as well.

            Sorry for your troubles.

I've been to a few different stores. The last was a corporate store, and they told me I had to go through warranty and to call the #.

The manufacturers warranty won't help here, because the last phone I bought was the one in November, every one since then has been a refurbished phone sent to me by AT&T. The last 2 (both this week) were Motorola Q9's, that both have the same problem. There's a digital glitch that happens randomly (sometimes constant) when I'm talking on the phone. It sounds almost like a cd skip.

I just want a new phone, and I don't want to pay for it. This has been going on too long.

And how is this AT&T's fault? Sounds like the common denominator here is Motorola, not AT&T.

Will I have had a Treo replaced with a brand new one in the store with a brand new unit after 2 of the refurbished ones crapped out in less than 30 days. You just have to be insistent. And be ready to walk out and go down the road to Sprint, Verizon, etc...

All your problems can be fixed with an instore visit but be nice but insist on a new phone for replacement and get away from Motorola's, we used to have nothing but Razr's and have had good luck with them but afte me getting a palm treo I noticed most of my connection problems went away, most of my dropped calls went away, static problems went away... As we upgrade my daughters and my wifes phones we will be moving on to something other than Motorola.

So far I've been lucky with AT&T. I had the razr and now have the TILT. Maybe I just got lucky but I think the service is better than VERIZON, can ya hear me now................no.

Bowvista, I would bet you had your issues with the Blackjack....?I love the phone, but have had problems with mine twice now. However, ATT has been pretty quick getting me a replacement phone. Problem seems to be their refurbished and I keep having the same issues.

Just got a call from the office of the customer service president (something like that) letting me know that I have a brand new Motorola Q9 in the mail. NOT refurbished!!!

Hopefully, this is all over, and the problems will end with a new phone.
