Can any of you breeders recommend a software that you are using for your operation? Thanks in advance.

Truthfully, I use Excel. Unless you have an extensive number of generations (5+), Excel works pretty good. I use a real simple family tree diagram and them you can post photos and other relevant data (score sheets) into the other worksheets in a file. I have a file for each deer and keep folders for deceased or transferred deer as well as those still in the pens. It takes some time to set-up for each deer, but once you get one file set-up, you can copy it for every other deer.

I can tell you that there are several different software programs out there and I researched all of them. In fact on most of them you can download a trial version for free, but GMS is the best that I found. Their software has everything you could possibly need from breeding to harvesting to DNA solutions to food plot and pen management. It's not the cheapest, but it's the best. I know some people that use Excel and you can certainly do that, but this software will make your life so much easier and organized it's not even close.

We bought 6 bred does last year and worked out a deal for the breeder to keep them until we finished our pens. We have our pens finished and will be taking the 6 does and the 6 sets of twins that they had once the weather cools down and transporting them is less risky.
We are just beginning the process, but I was was given advice by someone else to purchase a good program that makes the paperwork end that much easier.
