    Post your practice routine!

I figured with deer season coming and a lack of hunting threads, I'd see if we can get the pump primed for some bowhunting. Just post up what your normal practice routine is and we can maybe learn something from each other...

My new routine is this: 6 shots at 70yards
    6 at 80yds
    12 at 90yds
    12 at 100yds
    6 at 60yds
    6 at 50yds
    12 at 40yds
    12 at 30yds
    6 at 20yds

After that, if I still have daylight, I'll go back to 80-100 and sling arrows. Once I get my longbow built I'll probably just pick a distance and shoot until I'm consistent and then move back from there.

I have a 4 target course set up in actual hunting scenarios in the woods.

        10 yards-3 shots
        20 yards -3 shots
        30 yards -3 shots
        40 yards -3 shots
        repeat 3 times

I shoot 3-4 arrows starting at 20 and going out to 100 yds in 10 yd increments. I shoot each distance until satisfied. I usually shot 1 arrow a few days a week first thing in the morning. Feels like a one time hunting shot. I try to practice shooting for the hunts coming up. If whitetails I practice out of stands and ground blinds. If mountain hunts then I go practice in the hills. I also do things like time how long I can hold at full draw and shoot accurately. It all helps. Of course I drink beer when I can!!!!

Haven't tried holding at full draw for a while and then shooting.. I like that idea. I start at 60 go down to 20 and then back to 60 in 10 yard increments

Oh, and I have my buddy Shiner Bock with me to coach..

Usually shoot a couple rounds at 20-30yds with 6-10 arrows in the morning with my coffee while the hound is taking care of his business then take him for a 1.5-3mi run and shoot a couple more rounds with my heart rate up.

That's a great way to get some real world practice.

Who am I to argue with the above method. I'm headed to the back yard now and will evaluate it....

Take off the 50, 60, and 70 and that's my schedule too.

That's my routine also, except I stop at 40.

Some of you guys must be much better shots than me, because I'd never trust myself shooting a deer without a ton of practice.... Wish I could just sling a few the day before and be good...

1hr before sunrise on opening day - in my lighted shop - I'll take a few shots at 40 yards for my 10 yard hunting setup.

Nah. I'll sling a dozen every week about a month out. Start at 10 yards walk back to 30.
