    Question about cub cadet mower

About four years old. 60 hours on it and was mowing today and heard a loud vibration. Shut it off and investigated. At first I thought I had thrown the mower belt but it was still tight. Turned it back on and still had the noise. Turned off again. When I went to lift the hood up it almost fell completely off. Thought that must have been the problem. Got a bungee and tightened it up. Fired the engine back up and no noise. Perfect-I thought! Nope. Dang thing won't budge. Nothing at all. Could my transmission have already gone out? I had it " serviced" at the end of last summer but not sure of they did anything with the transmission? Could the transmission already gone out or is there something simple I am missing. I've googled it and can't find hardly anything.

I probably should have stated in BOLD that when it comes to mechanical issues, I am a complete idiot. I actually looked for something like that but found nothing. I did just find some loose springs and " stuff" in the back by that little lever you pull out to keep it in neutral?

That would probly be your problem then.

My father in law has a cub cadet. He has had it less than 3 years. Thing has been nothing but problem after problem. He said he will never buy another one. Might be a lemon but not cool with all the problems. I have John Deere Zero turnaround. Z910A. Great mower.

Op...sounds like drive belt could be your issue.

I hope it isn't the transmission and I don't think it would be with that few hours. I'll take it to the guy here in town that works on them and let y'all know. Thanks

Is it a hydrasatic drive? The lever that keeps it engaged might have popped loose.

If like the one I had, there are two belts. The drive belt and the deck belt. Drive belt is not an easy change out. I was always very happy with Cubs, took a lot of abuse.
