Texas Spiny Lizard is what we call them. I had a huge one in a tree that I hung a stand in last year. After it saw I was going to be in his tree ongoing he moved out. It was loud as heck running up and down the tree.

I call them a gecko (of the several geckos in TX) and have seen a lot of them in SE TX but not to much lately.

Had a tripod in a mesquite tree once. A big lizard like this one was a regular visitor. He would climb up my pants leg once in a while and sit on my knee and just stare. The first time, it scared the hell out of me, 'cause I didn't see or feel him until he was already there. It got to where I would look for him every time I hunted that stand. The last year, he wasn't there. Kinda missed him.
