    Possible move to Colorado

Well, I've been presented with a promotion opportunity with my company that would relocate me to the Denver region. I've been saying for years how much I'd like to have easier access to elk hunting.....guess I've got a chance to put my money where my mouth is!

Never having lived in the area, I know near to nothing about it aside from the recent control issues. I'd be interested in hearing opinions from folks who know more than I. In the meantime my wife and I have some praying to do, and quite a bit of thinking!

Denver ain't Colorado. I moved to western Colorado 9 years ago from Texas. Had to transfer to Denver about two years ago. Literally drove almost 5 hrs each way every week instead of moving my home to
The front range. Finally making the move for the benefit of havingmy little ones with me, but I can tell you, Denver is NOTHING like actual Colorado.

i ran the Navy recruiting out of grand junction co but my headquarters was in Denver i hated Denver to big of a city for me and too many liberals even worse than Austin...i lived in grand junction which wad like Tx hardly any liberals and mostly republicans hunting seasons only last one week during rifle seasons and if you don't take your deer or elk then your season is pretty much over in archery you get a month.....no hogs to practice on in the off season fishing not that much unless you know how to use a fly rod i did do some goose and duck hunting...i was glad to move back to Tx. if you can live away from Denver and drive into it would be better there's alot of crime in Denver...like any other big city...but this is just my 2 cents...

If you decide to go make sure you buy a lifetime Texas hunting license before you change your residential status that way you can can get residential license in both state.

Remember to factor the state taxes into your decision. Some areas even have local taxes in addition.

Love the Colorado Springs area. Spent a year at Lowery AFB in Denver. Great year.

I lived in Golden for a couple years and it was great. If you like the outdoors, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, snowboarding, river rafting, hiking, and beautiful scenery it will be a place for you. I loved it, and have been contemplating a move to Colorado Springs. The housing does cost more, but the property taxes are way lower than here. If you are going to live in the Denver area look at houses in the Morrison, Golden Gate Canyon, Conifer, Bailey area.

                            Beautiful state horrible politics.

If I get north of Pagosa Springs too far I feel like I'm in California.

Denver is like any other big city. You have bad parts and good parts. But as stated before, there are areas just out of Denver that are not as crowded. Conifer, Baily, Indaian hills,Golden, Lakewood, a lot of the area surrounding Denver is nice. And there are areas in Denver that are extremely nice. The winters can be cold here. But the last few years have not been bad. Shoveling it does get old. And of course the closer to the mountains you get the colder it gets and the more snow you have to put up with.
