    Camper Insurance

I recently purchase a 2011 Jayco 26' camper and trying to decide what level of insurance I need. I am going to pull it to the lease in a couple of weeks and it will sit there hopefully for the duration. I need coverage for this one trip, and then in case of hail or fire. Those that have insurance on your camper, who do you have insurance with?

Ours is insured with State Farm. Pretty reasonable--separate policy but they just tack the premium on with our vehicle policy.

We added ours to our insurance policy with USAA and they bill it with our vehicle insurance. We also have coverage for our 3 ATVs on the same policy as well. It's not very expensive....

Just don't put it off. I did. We had a tornado.

Good point TexasRed. Just received quote from Farmers and seems very reasonable. Waiting on a quote from Progressive before I pull the trigger.

yes make sure you get it. I didn't and the fires a few years ago cost me 2 4 wheelers, 1 Polaris Ranger, and my Travel Trailer. Lost it all and had NO insurance. Lesson learned the hard way.

I just added mine to our policy with state farm, I think it is $71 a year. Bought the fema trailer for $4,000 but the coverage is for $12,000

Foremost, a subsidiary of Farmers. Good folks to work with. I had hail damage, they totaled it at a fair price, then I bought it back salvage from them at an even better price. Hail was cosmetic only, so we just left it as is.

Have mine through Liberty and billed with car insurance. Not that much and WELL worth it.

Hmm, I've been with USAA for 10+ years and have been told on more than one occasion that they do not cover boats or rv's. Each time I have asked them to cover a boat or fifth wheel they refer me to Progressive.

Just a heads up, be sure of the amount the insurance will be covering. For RVs there seems to be a several hundred dollar descrepency in RV vale. There is the price most folks pay, then there is the "book value" which is usually always much lower than the purchase price. I found out the hard way when I filed a claim on mine that they had the option to go with coverage on "book value" which wound up being half the insured value. The agent didn't mind taking the extra in premium charge and never addressed the book value side.
