Son is turning 8 july 13th wants to have a party at the lake.. We are in Irving Looking at joe pool.. Is there a park there with swimming area where you don't have to pay $5 a person to get in? We are wanting to make it easy for people.. Going to bbq fish swim and water valley ball... Any tips are great thank!!!

I personally like Lake Grapevine. Been a while since I've been there but wasn't ever really crowded.

Not sure if there's a charge.

I would avoid JP at all costs, it is a mad house out there and extremely dangerous with all the nutjobs out there, if trends keep up, it may be as deadly this summer as Lewisville.

But maybe Eagle Mountain as an option?

I would be a nervous wreck with a bunch of 8 yr olds around any water much less a lake. I would find one with limited public boat access.

Well we are thinking about the cedar hill state park in the ropped off swimming area...

It might be a trek, but Benbrook has some free areas on the back side. Used to go there as a kid and had a blast! Covered tables, no charge to get in and use the area.

Look south of the marina off at Holiday Park.

And went to Grapevine a couple of weeks ago... water is far from the banks... it's down 10+ ft....

that's going to be tough. i think the days of free lake access in the DFW area are all gone.
