    morning commute southwest houston question

If I am going to be working off beltway 8 and westpark toll.. would you try to live in sugarland and drive up 59 or live in the new pearland area and use beltway 8? Im wanting to live in a newer construction home and these two areas seem to have alot more options.

Is traffic pretty bad on 59 headed into houston to be at work at 8am?.. I used to drive up 288 so lets say thats what I figure as "bad" traffic.

thx.. and any tips or advice on where or where not to buy a house would be appreciated

1/2 dozen in one 6 in the other. Houston traffic, not gonna be fun. I've driven them all and none are fun.

Sugarland is much closer than Pearland. My daughter lives in Rosenberg and work in the same area. 59 is I think 6 lines until you get the HWY 99

Getting ANYWHERE, in Houston, at 8am, won't be fun.

Key is to get to work by 7, 6 if possible. I live in Katy and worked there for a few months, that drive wasnt terrible. I didnt have to stay on 10 long before I could get off. If you lived south of i-10 (i live north on barker cypress) you could take westpark tollway right there every morning/afternoon without a hitch im sure.

I would move to Fulshear area. WestPark is going straight out that way, and everything is new construction and the area is booming. It sux right now, but once they open the new section it will be an easy commute if you leave early in the morning.

I live in Richmond and work at 8 and the Westpark. My office was moved this year, I didn't move out here with that office. If I don't leave the house by 6:30, it starts to get ugly on the Westpark. I usually leave by 5:45 and get to work by 6:15. On the days I have to drop my kids off at 7, I work from home. Otherwise, it will take an hour and fifteen minutes to get over there. 59 starts to get jammed up around 90 at 7:15 or so. Slow going until you get to 8. Like others said, if you can leave early, you'll do yourself a favor.

I'd look anywhere between Sugarland and southern part of Katy. Grand Pkwy to West Park wont be all that bad considering we are talking about Houston traffic.
