The regs read the only way you can approach a body of water with live bait is if you have a receipt showing that you bought them and where you bought them.

neither of which will ever be done. go ahead and impound my boat, i guess. this is a rule made by people completely ignorant of reality. they are likely ps4 players in their spare time.

I don't know how enforceable the laws on that will be. I would think it would be hard to prove anything on their part. It's just sad that they make stupid rules that make people break them that are normally law-abiding citizens. If I want to fish 2 different lakes in less than a week I will, period.

how will a GW prove you didn't do exactly that?

I was joking. The regs say you can't approach a body of water with live bait unless you have a receipt from where you purchased them that names the place you purchased them. If you have any left after your trip you can't leave with them either.

Live fish, including personally caught live bait, cannot be transported in a vessel in water that comes from the water body where they were caught. "

This is where the laws contradict itself. The next sentence states you can transport purchased bait with recipt. Frankly I don't think they know how to interpet the thing.

this is for zebra muscles bc ppl dont know how to clean their freaking boats and it can cause huge issues. Im fine with this.

All I can say is another member here called TP&W about it and they told him he can not trap bait from his pond and use it for bait in any freshwater lake or river in texas. Only way you can do it is to buy it from a commercial bait store and keep your receipt.

It's not a problem for people that don't fish often in more than 1 body of water. TP&W says if you do you should have your boat professionally steam cleaned with at least 140 degree water.

And there lies the problem. You ask 10 GW's and you will get ten interpetations. We are running into this fishing the Striper Tournaments. Every lake has a different take. A classic expample of the Right hand not knowing what the Left hand is doing. Even had one GW at Belton claim that you can't transport bait in your vessel from one lake to another but you can have a transport tank in your truck with any water other than lake water and transport them in that.

I believe thats more of a recommendation not a regulation. But either way there are many fishermen that do lake hop and if they would just swing by the local car wash and wash there boats out really good it would go a long way. When ppl dont do this then the tpwd have to take measures to the extreme bc ppl didnt have the common sense to just wash their boat to begin with. I know its just one way that zebra muscles are moved between lakes but we are humans, we can control our own actions and we should. Birds will be birds and so forth but we have the ability to make a difference and choosing not to is irresponsible and results in tougher recommendations or regulations as it should.
