I've been grading senior research papers for a long time but never had one like this. Heck, how would one even begin to grade the content of this! LOL. To say the kid is smart is an obvious understatement. To be honest if you search hard enough there are some errors but lord knows I have no idea if what he is saying is factually correct or not. Heck I thought "string theory" was just on The Big Bang Theory! Fortunately for me I emphasize the "process" of research more than I emphasize the content.

I too am pleasantly surprised at what comes outta the AP students in my daughters sophomore class!

You'd have to know the kid, but VERY few kids could come up with that an/or write like that. There is a service that checks for plagiarism, you upload the paper to them and they check it against known documents and give back a score based on percentages. If I were the grader of said paper, it would be going STRAIGHT to that service, but again, that's not knowing the kid.

I'm with you . I just finished a speech class where I had to write 5 5 min speeches in 10 days . And last semester I had several 6 page research papers due . I'm about researched out .

yep in College writing we had to submit every paper to ______.. forgot the name but it checked for plagiarism. That or the kid threw a lot of big words in knowing you wouldn't spend the time to research the content.
