Need help to see if I have a warrant out?

I received a speeding ticket in Kinney county in 2012. I paid the violation with a money order. Today I received a letter from an attorney that the violation is outstanding. And of course I'm sure I can't find the stub to the money order now. Can anyone look this up for me please?

Just call the jurisdiction's court (JP, city) and ask. This is the best way to get the status.

Learn all about warrant checks and how to search if you have any outstanding warrants against you.

Ha ha! Wrong person for sure.

I've never been arrested and sure don't want to be on a mistake by some clerk that didn't properly record my payment.

Same thing happened to my dad in a small ETexas town. It turned out the county clerk was stealing people's payments, luck for him he still had his receipt from paying the ticket.

Was this a couple of years ago? Seems like I remember hearing about it happening in Gilmer, or over that way.

Misplaced payments happens pretty regular. When I managed a trucking company, it was a common thing to have drivers arrested at ports of entry for unpaid tickets that were paid. We would have to get accounting to track down the check to be able to bail them out. We started giving the drivers copies of the receipts to keep in their trucks so they could avoid a few hours in the pokey.

Btw, if you ever get a ticket in Colorado keep that receipt for a long time. Colorado is absolutely incompetent when it comes to this. New Mexico is a close second.
