    What pipe fitting is this??

I'm building a couple fly rod tubes and saw this pic. I"m trying to avoid having to get a huge diameter tube so I can leave my reel on during transit. I haven't seen this fitting at any fishing suppliers and hoping the TBH Brain Trust will have an answer.

Seems like a fly fishing specialty shop would be the only place to find that. So I'm surprised you could not locate it in your search

That ain't no standard pipe fitting. You might could use a smaller diameter for the rod section and use expansion fitting to upsize diameter to encase your reel.

...at least that's how this hillbilly would do it on the cheap!

You need to run that guy down and ask him. Could be about anything, some specialty fly rod case to some kind electrical/telephone junction box.

Conduit to a jbox could work, but I've never seen that particular part

This is kind of expensive but is similar. Start searching for roof rack fly rod holder on google.

Looks like a Lock Out Tag Out item.

My goal is to try and avoid spending more money on a container than I did my entire fly set up. I struggle spending that kind of money when I can make something that is just as durable, if not more durable, than what is commercially produced... it may not look as cool, but i'm not known for my cool factor anyway lol.

It looks like a transom-cover off a antenna gear assembly.

Ok - then I'd use thinwall PVC for the tube (Sch 10 will be thin but Sch 40 will be heavy)

Put a pipe cap on one end of the pipe.

On the other end glue on a male adapter (one side will be a normal socket type end and the other end will be threaded.)

Get yourself a little plastic bucket with a good lid and poke a hole through the bottom so the threaded end go in - secure the male adapter to the bucket with an NPT nut. Use a little sealant around the nut and whala!

You might want to rig something up the lid on with a rope or the such so you don't leave a trail of rods down the road!

Line the bucket with some foam for padding

I don't know about that, not enough holes for locks, all of them I've dealt with started with 27 holes.

Www.rexelusa.com. If they don't have it - it probably can't be had.
