For those that use boom lifts????????

I have a lot of trees that need dead limbs cut out from this years ice storm. The local rental place has both articulating boom(34') and and a Genie 50. I have probably 15-20 trees over 3-4 acres that need limbs cut out. A few of these are BIG willow oaks. Would the mobility of the articulating or the height of the Genie be better? They have both of these.

Articulating will save you a lot of time.

With the articulating make sure you have good HARD ground.

That 's what worries me a little. That and everything is not perfectly flat.

I worked for a equipment rental company for 2 years while in college, so I can tell you from personal experience go with the JLG 34. You will spend some much more time moving the towable 50', and everything has to be perfectly level before it will go up in the air. Also with the towable, if one outrigger starts to sink the machine will shut down and you will have to go all the way to the ground and re level. The only problem that I see you having the JLG 34' in the yard is its going to make ruts because it is alot heavier.

By my guess i would say the JLG is probably 25-50% more than the towable 50', but spend the extra money and get the JLG 34'.

I'm not worried about ruts at all. Thanks.

Between those two I would definitely go with the first one. I was at our rental place today checking on the same thing and I will be getting the 40 footer similar to the first one here but has only the one boom for more stability!

Articulating. Much faster and less trouble.

                        Definitely articulating.

Watch out for those power lines...

Glad I asked, because I was going with the wrong one. Called back and it is a 45 foot, but will require a $100 semi delivery fee, at 17000 pounds. They had just rented it for this weekend, so guess I'll just drink beer and watch TV this weekend.
