"Just a hunch" now, but that's why TPWD sells a bait fishing license.

Here's a tip. Zebra mussels are coming. On the dark side, they are going to do a lot of damage, cost a lot of money, and seriously hurt native mussel populations. On the bright side, after they have spread all they are going to spread, there won't be any more need for all the new regulations you guys just read. They are native to some cold-water lakes in Russia, and don't tolerate heat very well. In some areas, it's believed that the hot summer water temperatures limit their spread, so it may be that south Texas will never become inundated with them. North Texas may be cold enough that they will be a major nuisance, though.

Zebra mussells are a bad deal for Texas lakes. TPWD is listening to folks who are collecting data and trying to figure out a way to possibly control the issue. While the rules may not be perfect they are being put into place to try and get a handle on the issue. Hopefully with scientific data and public comment a comprimise can be made in the near future.

[QUOTE=bowhuntntxn;8625117]I thought this was about you losing money by throwing those super expensive double top secret minnows out when you were finished fishing with them.

I put a lot of time and effort into catching quality bait. The effort pays off nearly every jug I put out. I have a great number of 50+ lb fish that agree with me.
95 percent of those big ones were released. My prime bait perch was the key. I won't go on a serious fishing trip without a couple hundred prime pond perch. We go to great lengths to keep them alive. If the fish don't cooperate perch go back in pond alive.
You come across kind of arrogant with your posts.

Here's my public comment, chemical warfare is the only way to stop them at this stage of the game. jmo

And who would take the time to catch bait fish from their pond, transport and sell them to a store, just to buy them back? Seriously, who does that?
If you have never caught your own bait maybe you are not a fisherman

                  That starts today,
