hogs at night with a feeder lite

do these lights come in a solar powered version that can be left for a length of time to get the hogs accustomed to the light,I really have a hard time believing that they will come in to a feeder with the light being new to the setup.

I am telling you the lights will not scare the hogs,, Where is Buff when I need him he thought the same thing. I am telling you Buff thought the same thing before he went out hunting last week,, sometimes you really need to read.

The man, the legend, The National Geographic Hog expert Tim Hicks send me a Texas Boars feeder light. When my good friend Timm Getts came down to try to whack some hogs I figured it was a good time to try out my new light.
It was HOT but the hogs were moving great. There were Hogs at the feeder when I walked in and I had 3 different groups come in only to smell me and leave. Did I say it was hot, I was soaking wet and not a bit of breeze to move my scent away. Just before Dark I had a 200 pound Boar come in and stand under me before getting my wind . He moved off and stood at 12 yards. My problem was he was where I could not get the camera on him. I let him walk. The way I figure it any animal I shoot off film is an animal I will never get to shoot on film as it will be dead. About 10:PM He just appeared under the light, I never heard a sound. I leaned out and thumped him and watched my Lumi nock go dancing off down the hill. I figured I had better give him an hour as It looked like I hit him too high. The second group of hog made no effort to be quite and I was standing up with the camera running when they came pouring in. I drew and let down 6 or 8 times as the hogs milled under me. Finally I noticed a nice sized sow feeding left to right and as she made her way to the center of the light I bared down on the crease behind her shoulder. I was in full auto pilot and watched as the 74# BW zipped an arrow right where I was looking. I could see blood sprayed everywhere as she ran off and I was able to hear he go down. This was my first hunt using a feeder light and I will say that I liked it much better than a bow mounted light. It seem half the time when I hit them with my bow light they spook. These hogs trotted out under the feeder light with no concern at all.

Guys I dont get anything for selling lights,,Kevin is my friend we hunt together and share family stuff ,support each other. Kevin has always been there for me. Not trying to start a light fight but I would put his up against anyones.

I have the 3 watt red texasboars feeder light and killed three pigs with my bow the first night I set it up. I have killed several pigs with the light and I only turn it on when I'm hunting. Unlike all the other lights out there, my texasboars feeder light throws enough light so I can see and shoot in a area 25 yards wide and 20 yard deep. You can hook a solar panel up to the light if you want so it comes on every night.

I own both the Ultramatic unit and also two texas boars units. I got tired of trying to see pigs with the untralatic unit because there was so little light. I was initially afriad that the pigs would spook if I didnt have a unit that was on nightly and they were able to get used to. I was wrong. Kevin has been a stand up guy everytime I have contacted him. Using a 2 Wat Red light from him I am able to light up the feeding area in red and see pigs great without spooking them. I have a light on my sight pins to assist as well. I had great luck with his stuff. I would suggest going with a red light and having it elevated. The nice thing I like aobut them is I dont have to leave it on when I am not there for someone to possibly find and take for their own and I can take it wherever I hunt. I bought a do it yourself kit from him and used the Ultramatic light as a platform and replaced the lights with Texasboars lights. If you are interested I can post a pic. If you have something to mount the lights to the kit is only like 55bucks.

I don't know come here from sick um about feeder lights. The hogs in Camp county where I have been hunting blow out if you hit them with a hog light so I was sure they would not tolerate the feeder light . Tim kept on me until I tried one the other night and the hogs paid no attention to it at all. I'm sold one it as I'm all about the video thing and it puts out enough light to get fairly decent footage.

Here is my setup

Here is my hybrid ultramatic/texasboars light. I had previously built a bracket to hang my ultramatic unit so i kept it and replaced the lights and battery. I like to leave the switch off so when I am not in the woods it is not lit up but the solar panel keeps the battery charged. If I could do it over again I would just buy the texasboars k2 big red with the microprocessor and set them up to my blind and be done with it. It probably spent over $300 in different light setups before I found what worked. The texasboars is my preference and I never have to worry about not having enough light to shoot and the pigs dont spook. You could leave a 12volt feeder battery in your blind and just hook it up when hunting. It will last for many many hunts and you can just recharge when needed. Or you could use a trolling motor battery and be set for a long time.

Buff what kind of camera were using to video in color at night? My Sony will only get black and white in "night shot" mode, when videoing at night.

Killerbee teh one I have is a BIG RED HC15. If I ever figure out how to transfer my video from camera to computer to here, I will post some of the footage I have videoed with these lights.
