I use the Texas Boar hunter hog lights. If you talk to Kevin, he can get you setup with exactly what you need for your application. The lights operate off of a regular 12 volt gel cell that you would use in a feeder application. The run time is about 36 continous hours on a single charge, if not in an "auto" mode where it operates every night from dusk to dawn.
When hog hunting there is no need to have a light come on everynight to get the hog acustomed to the light. I take my light with me to thestand each time I hunt, turn it on when it starts to get dark and then leave it running until I'm ready to stop hunting or it gets day light which ever come first. I have left it in continuous service for up to 12 hours while huning at night with no problems. The light WILL NOT SCARE the hogs when set up properly. The Texas Boar hunter lights are the best I have found for hunting hogs at night! Check them out at WWW.Feederlights.com Call Kevin, he will set you up with everything you need!
If you have any more questions you may want answered, you can call me at 832-677-1470 Gary

Never used the Texas Boar lights, but I use the one made by HCR. HCR Sportsmans Light Sportsmans Warehouse carries them for $99. I have two and have never had hogs scare from them. I leave mine on my feeders year round. Both have been in the on position for 4 1/2 years now and never had to change a battery. They come on at dusk and turn off at dawn automatically..........

I have one of the ones from Ultramatic. Honestly, I have not gotten to hunt it much. I can say for sure that different hogs will respond to lights differently. What Problem Child said about huting hogs with a light is not true at my place. A number of years ago we set up some of the solar charged landscape lights at my place and had NO luck with them. The hogs would come and eat the corn outside the lights. Every once in a while they would stick their heads into the light for a brief second, but would never come all the way in.
We used to build some homemade stabilizer lights. They worked decent on a moonlit night but never worked on a cloudy night. We used blue filters and red filters with no luck on cloudy nights. My uncle's theory, and I tend to agree is that they see their shadow and that scares them. I don't know if that is true, but the same lights worked fine on moonlit nights. Who knows.....I tried asking some hogs, but they would not tell me what was up.
All that being said. I was hoping that having the light up for a while, the hogs would get used to it. I'm gonna try the Ultramatic light out in the near future.....if I can get away to the lease.

Back years ago when I was hunting everynight I used a spotlight with a red makered coated lense. Kevin and I talked all the time about how great it would be to make something to light the whole feeder area. I had tried many things but always came back to my spotlight. Then Kevin built the first light and I got to test it. Its was back then pretty awsome..thats old stuff and my origanal light green color comes on every night in my yard with the same rechargable battery from I think like 12 years ago. Kevin Takes pride in what he builds but I will say after even as late a a few weeks ago I was aked to test something,,it wen back. I almost laugh when I see guys post I got a light at wal-mart or home depot or so on. I am sorry but yes you might hae some light but it just isnt the same. When I sent Buff his light to try he was scared it was going tospook the hogs.I talked to him and reassured him it wont scare them..I think hes a fan now. You asked if texasboars feeder lights were worth it. Yes they are and Kevin will build exactly what you want.

Tim ...I've seen you say this several times, but have not seen an explanation of the differences between the two when asked.... Just a "hunt with it and you will see"...
How about an explanation of how the difference in these $175 lights affect pigs less than a $50-$100 light with somebody elses name on it?...
Thanks...

When I say Kevin takes pride I mean he want to sell you what you want,,what you need. And not just some crap that comes from a line. ALL lights are custom built. So whats the difference if you spend 50 /75/ or 175.. Pride in his workmanship proud of his product because they are the best out there.

Oh and smart.,.I am sure that inexpenxsive lights dont scare hogs. But the quality and workmanship is not there Keven has learned to make his own molds and castings and so on.you do get what you pay for.
A cheap arrow may not work as good as a expensive arrow..but hen again it could be who is behind the arrow shooting it

On a quality test..back when I did the monsterquest show we used a brand new and a older version of the leds. When we were done at night and after the 3 days they were here I was tired and dint take anything down. This mean batteries groundblinds cameras lights and all. The rain started heavy two days later and I think we got 4 inches in one night. Everything was in 5' of water. My groundblinds were swept away to I just dont know. The gamecames were mounted to a 5 gallon bucket with concrete the stayed standing but ruined both the infared and the regualr digital moultries. My swampghost trail camera was 50 yards in the woods and was lower and in more water but stayed dry. The lights,,wellthe slights wereon tripods and the current took them about 60 yards to a fence line. No water no issues and no problems.

OK so the actual lights don't affect hogs any differently if they both worked and were side by side.....they just are "built better" and are waterfproof right?
Just trying justify it so thanks....
