Picture Size Help

With one of our cameras, I have trouble sizing the pictures for the site. I shrink them to the right size but they are still over 300kb. What I cant figure out is sometimes, just shrinking down works and they post up just fine.

see what file type they are, I noticed on my game camera they were BMP files and not jpeg, some of the photo resizers will allow you to convert the file type, if you can convert it to a jpeg and then size it down it should work, thats what I had to do

It is a jpeg but I just noticed the camera was taking pictures at 5mb. I guess that is why the file is still so large even after I shrink it in pixels. I am far from knowing much about this subject though.

yeah I don't know a whole lot about them either, I just noticed the other day I could shrink my pics down and still were too big, and the only difference I noticed in mine and others on here was mine were BMP and the ones on here were JPEG, so I converted them and they worked, if you're taking them on a game camera maybe change the quality to medium

This is what I use. I have Windows XP Home.
Go to this link and download the Image Resizer.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Then right click on a picture and select resize image.
Choose which size you want.
I have found that the medium size works fine.

Thanks Scotty but we have Vista on our new home ride.

I downloaded the powertoy tool. I've found that if I resize the pics from my camera they are still too big to post, even when I choose the size that should work. If I resize the resized images they will upload (using the same size setting). I don't recall which format they are but you might try it.
