Hackberry trees are notorious for growing in fences. Birds eat the fruit and then sit on fence wires and crap out the seeds.

They are a weed tree. Let them get big and sooner instead of later you'll have a big tree to cut up, because it died. I've cut so many down it's pitiful.

About the only thing they're really good for is feeding hungry squirrels.
