    Guess who I met today?????

I was at Bass Pro Shops in Garland today looking for walking shoes. Long story but I am walking a lot (17-20 miles per week). I am burning up my shoes in about three to four weeks (Reebok, New Balance even Dr Scholls etc.) Anyway I was walking around the shoe dept. and this guy comes up and starts talking to me about shoes (I look and he is not in B/P/S uniform). We talk a while and he finaly says I would like to introduce myself, "I'm Wally Marshall". Mr. Crappie himself. I said I've seen you on T.V. He was realy nice and was there promoting his new shoes. Yep, I bought a pair to try out. He insisted they would hold up to my walking. He even have me his Cell Phone number and said for me to call and let him know how they held up. (I dialed it while he was standing there to make sure it was "his" number).

Anyway, nice guy and you never know who you'll run into at BPS. Any of you met any "famous" people that turned out to be a "good guy/gal" in person?

    Have a good weekend!

      Two nice guys

Today I met and got an autograph from Jay Novacek at the Extravaganza.

A few years ago, I met and talked to Tom Knapp at the Wildlife Expo. Both of these men are truly genuine down to earth guys.

I once met Bubbles Cash hitchhiking down Lemmon Ave. in Dallas. She was a stripper who had the largest set of boobs I've ever seen in person. And I do mean "seen"...
I also beat up Steve Railsbacks little brother in Jr. High school. Steve played Charles Manson in the movie "Helter Skelter".
I once told Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac to "sit on my face" at the Sunday Break II down by Lake Travis. She was on stage talking and turned her head to cough. The 100,000+ fans were dead quiet and I hollered it out. At that point the whole crowd yelled, Stevie choked and the band laughed. That's my claims to fame!!
They all seemed like good people, but Bubbles was the most fun...

When I was a kid playing soccer, i went to a soccer camp at the university of houston. We were told that Carl Lewis was going to be having a track camp as our camp was ending. One afternoon after running my arse of all day and about to start the half mile walk back to our dorm we decide to try and hitch a ride.

This guy pulls up in a black porsche convertible and me being the shy smart arse that I am asked the guy if he minded giving me a ride to the dorms. I told him how much I hated running and that we had been running all day. I told him I felt like my feet were going to fall off and there was absolutely no way I could take another step and that he HAD to take us. He smiled, said sure get in. Me and another kid climbed in the passenger seat and he began to back up out of the parking lot.

Our coach came running over there screaming at us for getting in this stranger's car. He made us get out and as we got out, I turned and said thanks for the offer. He smiled again and I shaked his hand. He said, "son, what's your name?" I said Jason Huff is something wrong? He simply laughed and said that that was the funniest thing he had seen in a long time. I asked him if he liked to run? He said , I guess you could say that. MY name is Carl Lewis. My jaw hit the ground and I remember walking off and saying I just asked the World's Fastest Man if he liked to run.

And they say youth is wasted on the young!

I had to be 8 or 9 and I met Charlie Pack (A local TV fishing star) in the fishing section of Wal-Mart. I remember being so nervous as I went and told him how much I liked his show. He pulled out a picture of him and signed it for me. I was really excited, but now I think about it, who caries autograph pictures of themselves around like that.

I've probably met more famous people than I can name. But, I would have to say the time I spent with Bob Hope would be the most memorable for me. He was a pleasure to talk with while I was helping him climb the stairs to his private jet. Oh, and a few weeks later Nancy Wilson (the blonde) of the famous band Heart kissed me on my cheek....that was cool!

As for hunters, I met Bill Jordon at Bass Pro, I could care less about getting anyones autograph, and right off the bat he autographed a picture and handed it to me. I couldn't get over his bad breath and later threw the picture in the trash. If I want your autograph, I'll ask for it.

Oh, and when I worked at Love Field, I used to pull George Bush Jr. car up when his plane arrived. He knew me by my first name and this was long before he was Gov of Texas.

I met him one time at the TTHA in Ft Worth, I was talking to him and then someone came along and started talking to him. I think he forgot I was even there talking to him, so I left. Geez!

years ago my daughter played on a boys basketball team and one of her teamates was Jared Jeffcoat the son of Jim Jeffcoat Dallas Cowboy fame. Jims a great guy, real nice and great to talk to.

I got to hang out with the wrestler Ted Dibiase when I was a kid as my dad knew him.

One of the most accomplished hunters in the world that you've never heard of is a good personal friend of mine. We were talking one day and he said "Boy by the time I was your age I had my African big five and my sheep slam. Twice."

I met Brent Barry at the car wash, and even if he wasn't in the NBA, he would still be one of the nicest people I've ever met
