Go to Copano pier at night and fish the first light with shrimp for specks. Gaftftop on the end of the pier right now as well. G-Luck.

Here's the thread THE GENERAL was referencing. I outlined areas where I fish the Coastal Bend WITHOUT A BOAT.

I'll be working a fly rod on either the Port Aransas and or Packery Channel jetties Sunday.....probably both of them. Leaving the boat at home, offshore Saturday with Rack and company for a 12 hour snapper trip. Too much of a pain in the butt to trailer the boat and worry about staging that with a full day gone Saturday offshore.

This doesn't apply to Padre Island National Seashore - that is an entirely different world.

Here's some of what I use

These little gummy flies are deadly in the surf - wade cut - and working the jetty rocks. Specks, mangrove snapper, reds...heck everything with reckless abandon! There are times I'll get po'd with skipjacks, each cast is a jumping mad skippy, some of them are literally 2+ft long to a point, I can't get the darn lure down below them for mangroves and reds.

There are times I get into skipjack so thick, 20 - 30 fish, all of the jump and all of them fight like mad on fly tackle. A poor man's tarpon and using fly tackle - it's AWESOME FUN!

These little fly spoons are great for reds! I typically cut a small strip of crab or shrimp flavored FISH BITE and thread that on the hook for a tail. It adds scent and action......DEADLY!

I buy these from Scott Sparrow in South Texas. He calls them Mother's Day - tore up some 30+ sow trout during a Mother's day fish in the Laguna using this pattern. He probably fishes this 90% of the time in super skinny water in the Laguna.
