Bull Nettle is out and everywhere! No matter how careful I am I still find me peeing on myself!!! This plant is the cause! Well, that is unless a covey of quail pop up out of knowhere!!!

They use to really bother me when I was a kid. Apparently, I have built up some kind of tollerance/ummunity to the poison because they really don't swell me up like it use to.

I still look out for them because they still sting on contact!

I went and filled feeders today and at my panther stand there is a ton of it coming up. Most of the rest of the lease is free of nettle but our south end is covered up...

I shredded on the tractor for about 3 hours yesterday. Riding high on my iron steed, I waded into the nettled masses and slew them with my mighty blade. I had one the days battle.

About a month ago, I was walking back from stand at night and one ninja'd me. Left a knot on my knee for a week.

That stuff is evil. I have a few plants here and there and I have not been able to kill them off. Round up kills the leaves for a week or two but then it comes back stronger than ever.

GAH I hate that stuff.

Was checking on a calf that didn't look so well and the momma cow didn't want me near her baby. She charged me and as I turned to run, BAM left leg all in this crap. Burns so dang bad!!!

That stuff is evil. I have a few plants here and there and I have not been able to kill them off. Round up kills the leaves for a week or two but then it comes back stronger than ever.

The Highway Department sprays what they call a "Bermuda Release". It is Round-Up but it takes about 3%+ to kill out Bermuda grass, so the dilute spray kills the other weeds/grasses.

The point is everything has its own resistance level. Try a surfactant as their is a thicker cuticle on the nettle leaves. A slight mixture of a selective herbicide will also do wonders.
