We hunt in about in about 90 acres northern Starr county, a new gas line is running thru southern starr county all the way to about Alice. My question is to the Green screen is after taking down quite amount of brush in our small property, will affect this season? The owner explianed everything to us before hand. We will take a chance and hunt this season and see how it goes. We have been there for 7 yrs. and let some good young deer walk last sesaon. Feeding year round and Hoping for the best! Thanks for your input.

I'm with deerplanter...just give it some time but feed hard for a while. Don't know how many times I used to watch deer at our OLD lease at Sterling City. There was constant oil field trucks up and down the dirt roads all the time. The deer would "sometimes" pause eating and look up in the direction of the truck noise but NEVER spooked and ran off. IMO they are much more adaptable than we think.

When the pipeline crew knocks off work at 5:30, deer will be on the ROW an hour later!!!
I have worked a many pipeline jobs. We would come back the next morning and the whole ROW is covered up in deer tracks.
If they are just now putting the line in now, they will be done way before season starts.
Can you say "New shooting Lane"??

Oops! Quoted the wrong post! Shoulda been this one.
QUOTE=RustyRanchero;8604031]Where our ranch is located they had been drilling well after well and pump jacks and all kinds of stuff on location and it didn't affect the hunting. What did affect the hunting were the sketchy pumpers coming in there road hunting.[/QUOTE]

That doesn't surprise me. I would always have hogs dead and wondered who could have been doing it. Ran through the ranch quite early one morning and saw a pumper spotlighting. My truck at the time was the same hunter green color as the game wardens and he ran off pretty fast. Needless to say, they won't be doing that again because now they know we are watching them.
