A couple years ago I went to buy a Hobart 190. When I got there they had a discontinued 187. Got it for a great price and have been more than happy with it ever since. My dad is a retired high school ag teacher. The Miller Rep told him he could save money by buying hobarts as long as he didn't mind the tan paint. The millers have a few extra bells and whistles, but all the inner workings are the same. All internal parts are interchangeable.

I have an older Hobart 180 (it may be a 175, been a while since I thought about that). It is a good machine.
The one feature the same size Miller has, that I wish I had on mine, is the infinite voltage adjustment. It is especially useful on thinner metals, where it is easy to blow out.
Aside from that, it has been a fantastic machine for many years. It uses Miller consumables.
For aluminum, a spool gun is the way to go.
