    Tablet Recommendations

I'm headed to Jamaica in a month and don't want to take my laptop but do want to use the Wi-Fi. What do you guys recommend? Here are my 'needs':

    1) NOT Apple.
    2) Less than $200 or as close as possible
    3) Wi-Fi (can use my Verizon hotspot)
    4) Watch Amazon movies, surf internet, check email
    5) take pictures and videos
    6) Don't need tons of apps or games
    7) Small to medium size, medium better

The Kindle and Galaxy look pretty good.

    Thanks!

I was looking for something along those lines and ended up buying a no-name 7" Android table from Frys for about $70 weekend before last. My main use is for watching movies on the plane. Been on 9 trips this year and watching movies on my iPhone is just a pain. It does great at playing movies and music. It's ok for checking email but its kind of slow for surfing the web. I downloaded tapatalk and it works fine as does my bible app. I would not try to use it for work, just too slow.

On your shopping list I would add a Mirco SD card slot. I picked up a 16gb micro SD card for less than $15 at Frys also. Put the movies and music on the SD card and not worry about using up the internal storage.

It is not as nice as my daughters Kindle but then again it was a whole lot cheaper. If I lose it or it breaks I'm not going to cry over $70 bucks. You might consider looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 refurbished. I saw the 7" version online in the $130 range.

I have a kindle fire hd and love it. I use it to watch movies while flying, fast web surfing and so on. They're not cheap but they offer a lot.

My kids have kindle hd's and they love them. They watch movies, read books and play games on it and it is plenty fast.

About a month ago I walked into Verizon (my provider) and they were giving away Samsung 7" tablets "for free" it cost me 10$ more on my cell phone bill (which my employer pays) and a one time fee of I think 50 dollars. I absolutely love the darn thing. Its not the latest and greatest - but to surf the net and watch movies (either via wifi or over Verizon's 4G network) its great. I even connected it via blue tooth to my car audio system so when the girlfriend was shopping at the outlet mall in San Marcos I found me a shady spot and watched some netflix in surround sound in my car.
Dont get no better than that in my book.
