we bought my dad the one that holds 300lbs for christmas. hes getting up in age and we didnt want him climbing up on the ladder with 50lb sacks of corn anymore. he loves it. it throws the corn out real well. spreads it good. he feeds corn in it year around. a lot easier for him to fill. took a few days for the deer to get adjusted to something different sitting out there, but now they walk right up to it and eat all around it. one thing he likes is the squirrels cant get into it because of the protective cage. they run up all over it and cant get corn out. coon proof as well. and heavy enough that hogs cant turn it over. so far its worked well for us and him. warehouse is in san antonio too. really nice people.

landowner has one down south on lease I am on. It sucks. Jams all the time. Does not throw corn really. More of a brings it up and drops it out where it slides down the hopper. So your deer end up eating up against the hopper.

i guess it depends on what you put in it, maybe? i know ive heard that it jams sometimes with protein pellets in it. dad just uses corn. hasnt had one bit of trouble yet. knock on wood. it slings that corn out real far. if you do a test run, it'll sting your legs. i asked the guy at the warehouse about that because i had read that too. he said the older models have a tendency to do that. they've supposedly fixed that problem. so far so good for my dads.

hmmmm I've always wondered how these work... I guess auger to a spinner?

And if the only Benenefit is you can fill it from the ground why not make a short feeder, plus varmit cage, with a cone under it that wont allow corn to fall directly under it...

I don't have one but I thought about ordering some until it hit me that I can't shoot a animal if it's standing in front of it because the arrow or bullet with hit it and I also can't shoot a animal right behind it because it's in the way when hunting from a ground blind. I don't know about everyone else but when I set up a feeder I don't set it up with a big bush right in front of it and this thing is worse then having a bush in front of your feeder because with a bush at least I can shoot a animal in front of the bush without having to ruin my feeder.
