    question about Costa Del Mars

I have had several pair of CDMs with the 580 glass. I have been pleased with all of them. I have a chance to buy some with 400 glass at a great price, My problem is that I have never looked through any. What is the biggest difference and will I be dissappointed if I buy them without trying them based on my experience with the 580? (the deal is on-line)
    Thanks.

I could not go back to the 400's after using the 580's myself...

Brett the 580's are a little clearer but not much. In reality after they get a little dirty you won't notice much of a difference.

400 wavelength is original that Costa started with. The 580 is ...

Started to type a long explanation. The 400glass are almost as good as the 580. Some people could not tell the difference if you didn't tell them what nm was being blocked.

Paul, what do you notice most that would keep you from buying the 400?

I got some metal frame Wingman's with the 400G and they are great for every day use. Very clear. I have some other Costas with 580G if I got fishing or need them.

The 580's don't seem to scratch up as quickly...they are pretty close when comparing new, but feel they are a better investment long term.

Although I thought the 580 was sharper, if the shades were handed to me blindly I don't think I could tell the difference. For me, I was spending what I consider crazy cash for sunglasses and I wanted the best. Buy once, cry once, not another thought. For the right money I would grab them as long as they are the lens color you like. For me, the grey was no better than any other glasses but the red/amber whatever it is called (green mirror) was like HD. Fishing with my uncle and I know he thought I was crazy talking about the changes in water color...

That is a good point there.

To me the 580's are more clear, crisp, and bright. They seem to bring out the colors better and just overall seem better. I wore the 400's for about 2 years and thought it couldn't get any better, then I put on the 580's and haven't looked back. Don't get me wrong the 400's are good but after owning both, I prefer the 580.

I would a agree with this statement. I own both pairs and can tell a difference.

I've looked through both before buying my 400's several times and could not tell a difference. Maybe its just me.

I'm with the other feedback, after 580's I candidly can't even put on my oakleys.

I tried some 400's and they're is a clarity difference. Eye fatigue is minimized so much with 580's especially in the water.
