      Let's talking welding helmets.

I'm not a big fan of a hood that I have to spend a lot of extra money for there special lens. Been a Jackson guy for 15yrs. You get what you pay for but like Draco said you can buy good replacement ADs for pretty cheep. Mine has been going strong for 5 yrs now with my guys using it all the time.

I have a Miller from northern tool. $150-200 ish if I remember correctly. Much lighter and more comfortable tham the HF cheap model my dad has. Although both function just fine.

White pipelined with glass lens, I don't trust auto darkening lens.

I've never used one. I use a AO Cool Blue lens in a shade 10. For the last 21 yrs, it hasn't failed me yet!!!

And it's in a light weight Fiber Metal hood.

I have the same set up. I'm welding aerospace parts now and generally never get above 30 or 40 amps. Heard my AO lens brings a pretty penny on eBay. I might just sell it.

Miller digital elite or performance elite. Worth the extra bucks. They have cut mode grind mode can shade down to tig with. Torch cut on shade 5. Plasma shade 5. mig shade 10 or 11. stick 11. Miller has a decent warranty also. I have put mine through the ringer and had no trouble. Went through a bunch of cheaper ones before I bowed up.

I've been looking at the Miller digital elite, and digital Hoby pros. Looked at them in 3 D welding in Boerne. I would like to look at some Lincoln's hoods, but they don't carry them there. I'm thinking one of the Millers, but need to go back and look at them again.

I'm in the market as well. Looks like the Miller hoods are the way to go. I've been using an antique of my dad's. It seems too dark for the mig and plasma cutter, but we still do plenty of stick welding also.

I went with the Miller digital elite. I haven't really used it yet, but it seems to work as advertised with a mig and plasma cutter.

The best deal by far I found on the Miller hoods was on www.cyberweld.com

They have some tools there I've never heard of like a magnetic square and magnetic ground. As soon as I have time, I'm going to build some new deer blinds with this stuff.
