Wrist strap release to a handheld release?

Has anybody changed from a wrist strap release to a thumb or handheld release? I was thinking about switching things up a bit but those thumb trigger releases are kinda spendy. I shoot pretty good most days but on the days I don't I think it's my anchor. I'm thinking I might have a more consistent anchor with a thumb trigger release. Anyone have any experience with switching?

I tried a thumb, just didn't have the dough to buy one nice enough to see if I really liked it. The cheap one I got left a sour taste in my mouth for em, so I just stick with my trigger. I'm accurate with it, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I tried. Couldn't do it. 36 years of finger tabs and wrist release was too hard to overcome. I probably could if I forced it.

It was a PIA to "make" myself change. I'm glad I did. I now have a more natural anchor point and everything just lines up better for me. Find a pro shop who will let you shoot with, or, at least feel some.

Take a look at the Truball Pro Diamond. eBay has good deals on them, and, you can generally get your money bank on them, or, at least very close should you decide not to keep it

I tried a cheapo thumb release twice, and destroyed an arrow both times. Not for me.

Carter and Scott are really all I would consider.

Target 3 is my model of choice

It is not a magic pill and requires a ton of discipline and practice to master

I switched several years ago and haven't looked back. No target punch, my anchor is exactly the same every time, groups are tight! I won't lie it takes a little getting use to but well worth the time. Good luck.

I like my Stan Shootoff....it's one of the more expensive ones but it's worth it. I really like it and it gives me a better anchor point IMO.
