    A/C guys question.

Why would my furnace be leaking directly into the pan instead of the drain pipe?

    Your drain line is clogged

Either that or you got a leak from the cendensor unit.

BTW, I am NOT an A/C guy!

Is there normally an internal pan inside the unit? There is a t in the drain line. I know from the t to the sink isn't clogged. Maybe there is a problem from the t to the unit.

There`s a good chance there is a clog to the unit . A coat hanger or wire pushed into the unit might clear it .

If you pull the cap off the tee and it isn't full of water, your problem is most likely algae/debris blocking the primary drain outlet of the unit. Or the cool could be freezing. Is it cooling ok?

Check the 3/4" male adapter (screw fitting) at the coil it often clogs there before the "tee" as it chokes down to a smaller I.D. Cut the PVC before the tee look down the pipe or get a shop vac and suck that sludge out. Put a coupling back and your good. Also if your coil is extremely dirty some times the condensation cannot run down the coil properly to the internal drain pan and will fall off the coil prematurely down upon to your furnace.

Your drain lines coming out your coil maybe clogged, dirty evap coil, cracked/rusted out drain pan, or your coil maybe freezing up causing condensate to blow off coil.

All of the above, could be as simple as a dirty air filter or some other return air flow restriction.

Fixed it guys!!! It drained into the powder bath drain. The clog was in the hose that went from the wall to the drain. The drain was almost completely clogged.
