    Best Coon Trap Stake?

Anyone use these Berkshire cable stakes in video below when trapping? Not sure on disposable. I usually just use a 24 inch rebar stake with steel loop on end. Good thing is making sure ya have double swivels on traps.

Don't know how well they work but I know one thing, don't ever set a coon trap in the back of your Kawasaki mule to trap a nuisance coon. My dad did just that this weekend. We now have the mule at the dealership having a new wiring harness and throttle cable installed. He tied the trap to the roll bar but had a little to much wire. The coon jumped over the bed and got up under it and proceeded to completely destroy the wiring harness and rear taillights.

LOL!!!! DONT EVER set a trap for a coon close to anything that you don't want destroyed!!

I use Berkshires on all my coyote/cat sets, but I make my own..

Here is a link to my raccoon anchors that I use on ALL of my coon traps.

Your welcome brother....In the long run with the very same stuff listed in that thread that I done, you will be able to make your own wire stakes, or loops as well as with a few other small parts that are easily ordered in mass you can make your own snares.

I lost a trap yesterday. I was using 12" large metal nails and I had caught a coon on the same trap a week earlier. I guess it had loosened the stake enough to pull it out of ground. Oh well, he is stuck with it now.

Those cable stakes are pretty nice. I have all the stuff to make them since I make a few snares. Might give them a try

NO requirement to pound anything into hard ground..

Iron stakes are nice but HEAVY, a cable to loop around a tree is much lighter if you have a large number of traps. Any wild animal will destroy anything they can reach once in a trap (inside of a cage trap or surrounding a foot trap).
