    Beware possible ADT/safe streets scam

I had a guy come to the house in plano today claiming to be from safe streets. He had all the logos on his clothes and a partner driving a ford escape with ADT name plates.

I first spotted him across the street talking to a neighbor at around 7:15. At the time I wasn't sure who or what he was doing.

I'm at home and a short while later he comes to the door and I hear the door knob get turned and door pushed. Then he knocks and I go to the door he had walked away a bit and came back.

First thing he did was introduce himself and stick his head in the door as Much as I would allow via body position and look around.

I move the conversation outside to the front he says this and that. I ask him if I can take a picture of his badge and I get that with him in the photo for reference.

He talked a lot said he was a manager and this and that local and what not shop just down the road. #1 on the country. I grill him she more and he makes a phone call which I obtained the number and checked it right there on the spot. Phone number is a fake not ADT and not safe streets. Number on his ADT sign is wrong too as I checked that number as well.

He says he has a van and another guy just down the road and hell drive by so I can sew it. You know its has all the logos on it for ADT. Well of take a while for his associate to arrive and I asked prior if I can get a picture of the license plate so I can run it. He says Sure no problem.

I grill him some more while waiting and ask to see his solicitation permit which he claims he doesn't need one since he's not soliciting.

His associate finely shows up. And I got to take a picture of the plate and he has a problem with that trying to tell me its illegal for me to take a photo of his car. That by the way didn't even have a license plate it had a fake Florida paper tag in the window.

I then ask if its OK for me to have some buddies come by and check them out (Plano's finest) I have my friend Allen who was standing in the doorway to call the police. Those two guys got in the car and literally burned rubber and turned the corner.

The guy just looked off to me looked like he was casing the place out or possibly testing to do I'd theft.

I don't know maybe I over reacted but my lizard Brian was going off and it seemed there were real red flags.

Maybe just on edge since I nearly felt like I had to pull my gun on a guy approaching my truck yesterday aggressively attempting to ask for money while I'm trying to back up.

If someone is turning my door knob trying to get in they are going to get a gun in the mouth. They were up to no good.

Two weeks ago I had I think an ADT guy knock on my door. I answered the door and he said well the reason I'm here today is that your house was burglarized the other day.. I was kinda thrown off by his comment. Then I said no I think you have the wrong house and wrong information. He then asked if he could come in and discuss info and I said no thanks and shut the door. It was really weird that when he left he walked off down street and out of sight to where I don't know. But if he was really making a house call thinking he had his facts straight I'd assume he would park in front of house like a professional.
Oh and I live in Katy so maybe it's goin on all over

I had a "home security" guy ring my door bell the other day. As soon as I answered the door he spouted of really fast, his name and who he worked for, and then said "I noticed when you opened the door I didn't hear a beep". I looked him in the eye and said "that's right, but did you hear the CLICK"? I had my hand positioned behind my back. It took him just a second to process what I had just said but all of a sudden his eyes got real big and he couldn't get off my front porch fast enough. As serious as I was, I shut the door and started laughing. The look on this guys face was priceless. Lesson learned: they are listening when you open the door to see if you have an alarm and to see what time you are at home.

You should have unlocked the door and sat there quietly.
