Weekend Not To Be Forgotten- 5 Axis Bucks, An Oryx & A Blackbuck !

First ever Guns & Guitars weekend we put together at Koon's Canyon Ranch was a huge success! Texas singer/songwriter Zane Williams provided the evening entertainment and I got to guide Zane on his first ever big game kill of any kind. A nice 31 inch axis in full velvet:

The 5 hunters who signed up for the hunt also all got a nice animal as well. Rocksprings was so dry that everything was coming to food and water. Everybody tagged out by Saturday and so I got to hunt as well. My first axis deer:

    Greg with a beautiful blackbuck:

Zane, Dan and Seth with their bucks:

    Evening entertainment:

We ate like kings. In addition to the amazing ribs, everything was either pork or wrapped in pork. Including bacon wrapped onion rings

    Midday washer tournament

Zane and Dan still pickin' at 3:30 AM Sunday morning

Jackrabbit beatdown - had to haze the newbie:

Kevin with his buck and Paul and Kevin with Paul's oryx

Truly an amazing weekend with some friends new and old. Can't beat Zane Williams when it comes to songwriting either. What a story teller!

I wanna be there next time

I need to know more about those bacon wrapped onion rings. Got a recipe? Are they battered, seasoned, or just onion and bacon?

No batter. I think the cook did follow something similar to this though. Basted them in a sweet sauce and then put them on the smoker. The other things were bacon wrapped shrimp and bacon wrapped quail.
