    I'm thinking juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk. More especially if that was found near a pond or creek. Or crawfish mounds.

      BTW it's not legal to use feathers forn hoot owls and chicken hawks to tie flies, although some are tempting. Ducks and pheasants are OK.

        We have a nest of Barred Owls near our house and their feathers look very similar to that.

          Not sure but I picked up one once that looked like that because I thought it was from a turkey. Dad said it was a hawk or owl so I chunked it before Mr Green Jeans caught me with it and I got a ticket
          Not sure if you can get a ticket for picking one up but did not want to find out as I am fairly sure you can
