I quit in April of 1998 after more than 40 years of tobacco use, because my mother asked me to as she was being wheeled into the operating room to have her cancer surgery.

I had the sloughing skin, lips quivering and after a few years my gums started to grow back around my teeth.

Good luck with quitting, it's worth it.

One day the dentist was doing a routine checkup and cleaning. He rubbed his fingers around in the spot and asked if that's where I put my dip. He asked me to move it around in the future. I threw that crap away and never looked back.

I asked my dentist, and its sloughing

I was doing really good until 2 days ago, picked up the can and today I put it back down. I have found the nicotene lozenges are working well for me, gives my tongue something to play with.

Keep with it man, Im right behind you

6 months and I've experienced neither problem, but my gums started bleeding when I brush where I used to put my pinch

That could be of concern. U have the doc to look at it?

I'm approaching the one year mark. I have made it successfully to this point thanks to Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff. This has saved my butt many times while hunting or fishing

Congrats on quitting. I did it for years and quit about 15 years ago. To this day, after a good meal I still get the urge to sit on the front porch and take a chew or dip.

That stuff has gotten so high priced, I don't think I could afford it. It ought to be like getting a pay raise for those who're just quitting.

Congrats Leon, glad to hear that you've quit. Seven years clean here. I did have the dead skin for a while but not the spasms. It'll go away in time. Hang tough.

Chantix is your friend if you are trying to quit. Talk to your dentist about it.

I had made and broken promises to quit dipping to both my wife and son. Many, many times. Then one month ago today, I promised God that I'll never touch it if HE walk me through it.

I can honestly say, and I'm lying, I'm cryin (and I aint shed a tear), I have had not one craving since.

                                I couldn't, and wouldn't, make that up.
