    Please help me decide

Between a kayak rack like a Thule or a kayak trailer for my Tacoma. I like the benefit of using the trailer for other uses and its easier to load/unload but takes up more space. I know there are a lot of Tacoma drivers that kayak fish as well. I have a double cab short bed if That counts.

    What say y'all?

I just bought a trailer to fix up. It takes too much effort to load the kayak on top of my SUV after a long paddle. It's not the loading to get there it's the loading to get home that stinks.

I hear ya. I'm leaning towards the trailer for that reason

LOVE my Tacoma!!! Best vehicle I've ever bought by far. That being said, I'm building a high clearance trailer with tent/kitchen cause a few times a year, it's not enough. That being said, some of my favorite places are only accessible with a Taco!

Why not just use an extend a bed? I use on in my tundra for our yaks and my BIL uses one in his taco.

Get the trailer. Trust me, you will get real tired real quick of loading the yak on top of the truck. When I had my trailer I found I would go kayaking 3 to 4 times more often than when I had to load it on top.

I have the extend-a-bed on my Taco and haul my yak over it. Works great.

With the trailer, you will not be able to get into places that you can with the truck alone. Then there is the whole, pay for a trailer, part. Then there is registration and paying for a license every year.

Bed extender worse case. We haul the Fronier 12 in the kids Ford crew cab with the short short box.

Don't have a kayak, but unless you have a place to store the trailer on your property, or where you store the boat, I'd go with the rack.

My boat trailer was destroyed during Ike (3 days in saltwater) and after 4 years, I got tired of paying $45/month to store a $3000 trailer. Still have the boat, though.

I use a trailer and a bed extender, depending on the situation. The bed extender is cheap at harbor freight. I only have a 12' yak, so the bed extender works great for solo trips. I use the trailer for extended trips where I need to haul a lot of gear, or when we have multiple people going. The trailer we fixed up (10'-0" utility trailer) will haul 6 kayaks plus a ton of gear.
