I plugged the hole with wire mesh. Put a live trap next to hole and baited with peanuts and peanut butter. I took the screen off under the eve so any left in the attack can get out. I bought six bug bombers and set them off in the attic, not so much to run them off but kill any fleas those nasty little *******s carried into my attic.

Update: Been chasing the D*&^ thing for a couple of weeks now. Been popped a couple times with a pellet rifle, made marginal/bad shot. found the entrance hole(finally) and placed a live trap baited with PB and Oats. Fiance texted earlier that I had it in the trap. So now after I do a cursory sweep of the attic, I'll close the hole, and administer the punishment to the trespasser. I'm thinking squirrel dumplins....

you could also have set up the christmas tree in a way to make it look like a ground blind and gear up in a gillie suit.

What I did:

Closed hole they were using.
Attic stairs are in garage, so put the stairs down.

Put cat in garage, next morning dead squirrel on the mat.

My dog takes care of most of 'em...but they are in the yard, not the attic

Neighbor of mine was having issues so he purchased one of them new quiet pellet guns. In one years time he killed over 250 squirrels and we can not tell the difference in the population around the hood. We are in the city and other neighbors feed so much they are still everywhere.
