We always used a sock with sulfur in it and dusted our pants legs. It always worked for us.

Permethrin. There are lots of commercially available clothing sprays to spray your hunting clothes with. Highly recommended.

Works great for chiggers too, but getting a tick off tall stuff as you walk by is still a possibility

Walmart carries a two part repellent called old sawyer. Works great it is a spray/lotion combination. Lotion on skin and spray on clothes. When I have used this product I have never had a tick, flea, Mosquitos, etc. on me.
