Sounds bad. Prayers sent for the firefighters and all the families being evacuated.

KTXS ABC Abilene and KTXE ABC San Angelo offer local and national news reporting, sports, and weather forecasts to viewers in central Texas, including Sweetwater, Winters, Ballinger, Cisco, Colorado City, Big Spring, and Grape Creek, Texas.

Oh, NO. I hope all our buddies shooting at the Abilene club are ok.

Forrest Service Map says it's 1000 acres/20% contained.

From what I can gather, it sounds like the fire is northwest of Buffalo Gap, between View and FM 89. The archery range is southwest of Buffalo Gap, a few miles away. Lots of dry cedar and grass and mesquite where the fire is, and there are lots of houses out in there too. Not good.

Wind is blowing 30-40mph from the west/southwest. It is DRY here. We never had any wildflowers or green grass this spring. Looks like an August drought, but it's only April.

Yep. Pray for rain. I can't remember ever seeing a spring where it was this dry and dead. Awful.

Defiantly going to be a bad wild land fire year.

Hate to see this, way too early in the year to see these fires. If we don't get rain soon, it will be very bad year for fires

I think it's all ready to late . We should have gotten a lot more rain up to now. Technically we have just one more month to make up in a big way. Don't see it happening
