What takes taxidermists so long?

My taxidermist sucks! I have animals that have been tanned, in his freezer, for over 12 years. He keeps telling me, "two more weeks". I think he does everyone else's stuff before mine. If I wasn't banging his wife, I'd be furious!

When my wife was doing taxidermy I asked her one time why my stuff wasn’t getting done. Her reply was,”you don’t pay”! Me response was we can take it out in trade, her reply was,”I’m getting the short end of that one”!
Talk about busting my bubble!

Ok yall make sense but dont yall think over a year is a little to long to take on an animal that someone else shot? I like good quality but i wouldn't want to wait a year or more to be done.

Typical lousy misconception.

If your mount takes years there’s better options . If you wanna wait years have fun with that. There’s excellent taxis that only take so many so they can focus on quality.

Sheesh what a resurrection this thread was! But my taxi is between 10-13 months and I’ll gladly wait that much to get her quality work!

I think you may have a different concept of quality than some of us. I haven't found a taxidermist yet that does work to my standards and that doesnt have a backlog under a year. This includes some of the very high end volume shops, such as animal artistry and the wildlife gallery. Even the big boys with multiple award winning taxidermists on staff still take a year plus. Extremely high quality work is in demand and takes time to sort through the backlog, Mediocre work is not.
