    Water Restrictions.

Allen and Plano are on stage 3 water restrictions. How come cities like Dallas aren't? We can water 1 day every 2 weeks. Dallas can still water twice a week. Heck, Dallas let a water main in front of work gurgle water in the street for almost 3 weeks before they fixed it. It's just doesn't make sense that all the other cities have to suffer while the larger cities don't. Rant over.

so why haven't we gone to turf yards?? I mean seriously! Think about the new technology, it's not like the 70's brady bunch junk...it actually looks like grass! plus, there's NO MORE watering...or mowing necessary. I just can't believe there hasn't been a big push for this. I hate having to water and mow...seems so ridiculous!

Look at the initial cost of a "turf' yard! They look great, but at 10 to 15 dollars per square foot, that gets a little expensive.

The one thing that urns me is everyone being on water restrictions, but the city can whatever whenever they want because they say they have their own wells and this does not take away from the city's water. BS, all it does is deplete our water table and harm the water tables for people outside the city and the farmers. The city hurts all of us period and denies tnis.

Dallas gets their water from the same lakes as everyone else around here. They evidently don't enforce what they have because some of the rich folks water every day.

We did so good at conserving water up at my home in the Albuquerque as a community that the water authority is raising the rates by 5% to recoup the shortfall as a thank you.

All of the suburbs buy water from Dallas water utilities.

That's not exactly correct. Your city us part of the north Texas municipal water district and Dallas is not. Lavon is the ntmwd's primary source. Dallas gets theirs from Hubbard, Ray Roberts, grapevine, Lewisville and tawakani. Ntmwd set your water restrictions.

Yeah. But Lavon feeds Hubbard. We're losing part of what little resource we have to Dallas.

What can they do if you don't follow? Seems no one CAN FORCE someone on what to do at their own house

Wichita Falls looks for other sources of water

Wichita Falls is still waiting for state approval to begin tapping its supply of treated wastewater, but this city 100 miles northwest of Fort Worth is already thinking about what comes next.

If it gets approval to recapture and recycle 5 million gallons of effluent, Wichita Falls believes the city will have about a two year supply of water if the drought doesn’t let up.

If this summer is as bad as the one we had a few years back I'm probably going to let my grass die and just keep the foundation watered... I've actually started to plan River Rock and drought "proof" plants for all the beds in that event. It will look nice and cut down on the amount I need to water.

They fined people in our neighborhood a few years ago.

I have a very small patch(300sqft) of it in the back yard and it cost a little over $3k.
