    Ranger, Rhino, Mule Question?

Does naybody use one of these type vehicles to launch their boat? I've got a buddy that just baught a lake house on Rayburn, baught a ranger bass boat from his father in-law, and wants something that might double as quick transportation around the subdivision as well as drag the boat around and launch it if possible? Boat weighs ~3000 lbs. Told him I'd ask here cause alot of TBH'rs use them. Any feedback would help!

I think launching and pulling out a 3000# boat is asking a little much from a UTV.

I would not have any problem using my Ranger to launch my 20' Triton. I am sure we will be in 4WD and low range, but I would expect it to pull it out just fine

Hmmm, Like to know that answer too. We use the Ranger to load/unload double Sea Doo's, no problem.

On second thought..... If the ramp gets to steep, Maybe there won't be enough weight on the UTV to keep it from slideing down

I've got an older model Ranger 6X6 but brakes need some work! Other wise I'd try it. I've pulled some pretty heavy loads around deer lease or around the farm??

make sure that the hitch can hold the tounge weight.

                  My thoughts too....

My ranger can pull a heavy load on flat ground, but it may have a hard time on a concrete incline.

I dont think he would have a problem at rayburn on most of the ramps as they are not that steep, except for a couple of them. I would put a chock behind the wheels to keep it from sliding back, but that is no big deal to do.

I wouldn't risk it. When i used to fish alot, i've seen 2wd trucks have issues on a wet/slick ramp. If he does try it, might make a good you tube video. Do they make a snorkel kit for it, you might need it.

Thats what I think...with the hitch so close to the axle it would put the rear wheels right in the slime zone...

I lost control using a 4 wheeler to put a boat in the water at Lake Limestone once. Couldn't stop and was getting pulled in so I jumped on the trailer tongue and hit the cable release on the winch...****ed stupid and dangerous.

Got out with the four wheeler no worse for wear and tear, but with all the screaming my wife did during the ordeal (she was on the boat), the whole world stopped what they were doing to watch the Houston city slicker almost lose his 4 wheeler.

That was probably the most em-bare-assed I have been in 30 years.

I would not try it in a Rhino.
